The 4th grade forms the fourth year of Elementary school and children enrolled are typically 9 to 10 years old. Subjects taught include Math, Science, Reading, Writing and Social Studies.

The curriculum for Math includes more complex aspects as compared to the precious year. Students are taught how to calculate factors and multiples of numbers, calculate as well as convert units of measure, and to work with fractions. For Reading, students are taught a variety of new genres and are introduced to more sophisticate vocabulary. Writing now forms part of students’ daily activities and students are taught different types of punctuation to create sentences.

In Science, students learn about the different scientific processes as well as topics search as motion of objects, electricity and circuits. In Social, a great deal of time is devoted to teaching students about their state of residence and may even include field trips. Most schools also include health, music, art and physical education as part of the fourth grade curriculum.
