The 5th grade forms the fifth year of primary education for students in Elementary school. Students enrolled in this grade are usually 10 to 11 years old. Subjects taught in the fourth grade typically include Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language.
In Math, students are taught more advanced concepts including long division and multiplication of vulgar fractions and decimals. Basic algebra may also be taught as part of this curriculum. Students are taught to develop more complex language skills with advanced grammar concepts. The basics of physical and life sciences are introduced as part of the Science curriculum and History and Geography are furthered as part of the Social Studies curriculum.
